Sailing through the turquoise blue waters of southeastern Mallorca is one of the most rewarding experiences in the Mediterranean. Setting sail from the nautical base of Portocolom, in the municipality of Felanitx, you enter one of the best-preserved coastal areas of the Balearic Islands. This historic natural port, surrounded by traditional fishermen's houses with wooden docks and picturesque llaüts, offers the perfect starting point for planning a whole day at sea. Whether you have decided to rent a speedboat or are going to pilot a boat without a license, organizing your itinerary will allow you to make the most of every minute of sunshine safely and comfortably.

Below, we present the ultimate 24-hour sailing itinerary to make the most of your day of rental in the sea of Portocolom.

🌅 Morning: Departure and Anchoring in the exclusive Cala Sa Nau

Our family adventure at sea begins early to take advantage of the calmest wind conditions of the day:

  • 09:00 - Reception and Technical Briefing: We wait for you at our MBR nautical base. We perform a thorough safety check on board and explain in detail the handling of the boat and the ideal anchoring areas.
  • 09:30 - Southward Bound to Cala Sa Nau: We cast off and head south along the low cliffs. After about 20 minutes of smooth sailing, we enter Cala Sa Nau, a beautiful protected natural fjord that winds sinuously into the coast. It has a clean white sand seabed excellent for safe anchoring. It is the perfect time to snorkel, swim in transparent waters, and enjoy the peace of the morning.

☀️ Midday: Lunch on Board and Sailing to Cala Varques

The midday sun invites you to cool off and seek new horizons by sailing north:

  • 13:00 - Lunch in Protected Coves: Enjoy a picnic or paella on board under the boat's bimini top, surrounded by the beauty of the pine forests of Cala Mitjana.
  • 14:30 - Heading North to Cala Varques: We sail back crossing in front of the historic Portocolom lighthouse and head north towards the most pristine coves of the east coast. We skirt imposing cliffs to anchor in the spectacular Cala Varques. This pristine cove has incredible clear sand bottoms 5 meters deep, perfect for swimming and exploring sea caves carved into the limestone.

🌇 Afternoon: Return to Port and Sunset in Portocolom

The evening breeze softens the sea, giving us a highly pleasant sail back:

  • 17:30 - Smooth Sailing Return: We head back to the port of Portocolom at a reduced cruising speed, enjoying the golden colors of the sun on the cliffs and the lighthouse.
  • 18:30 - Check-out and Traditional Stroll: We moor at our pontoon. We recommend finishing the day walking through the historic fishermen's quarter "Es Riuet" and having fresh fish for dinner at the port side in one of the traditional restaurants near the market.

💡 The Advice of Our Expert Skipper

"For a full-day sailing trip in Portocolom with children, I advise alternating sailing stretches of no more than 30 minutes with long anchoring stops of at least 1 hour to swim and play at the beach. Carrying plenty of bottled water and fresh fruit on board will keep the crew hydrated and constantly energized throughout the day under the Balearic sun."
